How to install HCL Connections desktop plug-ins for Microsoft Windows
Before to start to use HCL Connections desktop plug-ins for Microsoft Windows you need to install it.
The software packages are available in this folder:
https://downloads.ce.cloud-y.com/HCL/Connections/Connections_for_MS_Desktop/
Note
You must authenticate with your user to access to the software.
Into the folder you'll find a file named HCLConnectionsWin_Latest.zip that is the last version available for the connector and that you must download.
Extract all zip files in a folder and then launch:
HCLConnectionsMSDesktop.exe
Note
You need to have Administrator rights on your PC to correctly install the connector. We recommend in any case to uninstall the old connector if you already used it and after the installation remember to restart your PC.
At the end of the installation you will have to configure the HCL Connections desktop plug-ins for Microsoft Windows by entering the URL of the SmartCloud-y Connections server, your user name (e-mail address) and your password.
An entry that refers to the connector will be added in the Windows Explorer:
Click on HCL Connections and then will appear in the windows explorer's content this one:
Please click on "Connect to a site".

Before doing this step, remember that the authentication method required by Smartcloud-y is of the OaAuth type (Open Standard for Authorization). Therefore you will have to select in the authentication method box:
- Site URL : https://<your tenant name>.cloud-y.com
- Choose a display name: usually it is the tenant name, but you can change it as your needs.
- Then click on "Connect"
You will be redirected to Smartcloud-y autentication web page where you need compile the autentication's fileds with your username (i.e. email address) and password.
If your Organizations is federated with SSO you will be redirected to your Organization ID provider.
At the end of the autentication process your connector is configured to access your Smartcloud-y Connections site.
It will be asked to you to configure your personal My Drive area on your PC, so you will synchronize files to and from Connections:
